The Artist
Based in Kelowna, Laurie Carr is a realism painter whose passion for nature is reflected in every piece she creates. Working primarily in acrylics, she is inspired by the breathtaking landscapes of Canada — its lakes, mountains, rivers, and forests — as well as the beauty and spirit of wildlife. Through her art, Laurie seeks to capture fleeting moments in nature and preserve them in time.
An avid outdoors enthusiast, Laurie finds inspiration while hiking, camping, paddle boarding, and simply spending time immersed in the natural world. Family and friends also plays an important role in her life, grounding her creative journey and deep appreciation for the beauty that surrounds her.
Laurie is a self taught artist who continues to developed her artistic skills through numerous classes and workshops. She continues to refine her work through an ongoing mentorship with Ann Willsie SFCA and the Mastrius art program. Her work has been featured at several local events, including two exhibitions at the Rotary Centre for the Arts. In 2026 she was awarded first place at the Oasis Art Show (Peachland) and in 2025 received an honourable mention at the Artscape FCA Show in Kelowna, British Columbia.
Laurie continues to be inspired and amazed by the beauty of nature, remaining devoted to capturing its essence and sharing it through her work.
